Le Grand Bornand has been awarded the Famille Plus label, so there's always a great programme of activities for children.

About the property ...

Chalet Melussac is a spacious, three-storey property sleeping 15 guests (maximum 10 adults) in six bedrooms and four bathrooms, a steam room and a hot tub.

The main entrance will take you in to a spacious hall, with plenty of storage and a hanging area for coats. There are stairs up to a charming mezzanine play area for children under the eaves, with comfortable seating, toys, games and a television. This area overlooks the main living area, so parents are able to keep a watchful eye on younger guests.

Back in the open-plan living area, a wall of windows frame the amazing views and flood the room with light. Two large sofas are perfectly placed to take in the view or watch the television, and there are more chairs in front of the fire where you can enjoy a cosy chat.

The fully-equipped kitchen has a breakfast bar and everything you need to cook for a crowd, including an air-fryer and a multicooker. The round dining table is a sociable place to eat together, and after dinner, you can take your coffee out on to the balcony and watch the stars from the chairlift swing!

There are five bedrooms on the floor below. Three of them have large double beds, and two of these rooms open on to the balcony. There's another double bedroom with an ensuite shower and balcony access. The fifth room is designed with children in mind, with four sets of built-in bunk beds. There's a small hall outside this room, with beanbags, stools  and a play area. There's also a WC and washroom on this floor as well as a large bathroom with a bath, double shower and double sink.

The superb wellness area, with a hot tub, steam room, shower and WC is on the bottom floor. There's also a laundry area and ski room, accessible from the garden and the house, with a heated boot rack. There's also a self-contained apartment here, with a double bedroom, a shower room and WC as well as an open-plan living area with a kitchen and dining area. Doors open from this room on to a furnished terrace, and the fully equipped kitchen can turn into a summer kitchen when you want to eat out on the terrace!

There's parking for one car in the garage and four more in front of the chalet.

About the area ...

Halfway between the two resorts of Le Grand Bornand and Chinaillon, you'll have great skiing in every direction when you stay at Chalet Melussac. And you won't need your car - the ski bus stops just a short walk from your door.

The bus also links you to La Clusaz and Le Croix Fry, in Manigod, so you’ll never be stuck for a lift home. There are plenty of cross-country ski trails in the area, and beginners in this sport will love the Evo Nordic Park, which has a circuit featuring a variety of terrains. Any boarders in your group will appreciate the Snowpark.

Non-skiers can go ice-skating or swimming in La Clusaz, where the heated indoor and outdoor pools are open all year round, or try snowshoeing, sledging, dog-sledding and sleigh rides.

But the mountains aren't just for winter - there's plenty to do and discover in the summer too. A network of walking and biking trails cover the mountains, and you can pick up a route map for either at the tourist office. There’s a fantastic swimming pool complex in Le Grand Bornand, with a restaurant and grassy areas for picnics.

If you’re looking for something a little more challenging, there’s a climbing school, via ferrata routes, a tree-top adventure park, canyoning, white-water rafting and paragliding all nearby.

Le Grand Bornand has Famille Plus status, and prides itself on a great programme of activities for young families. August sees the International Children’s Festival in the village - a week of puppet shows, circus acts and workshops, with a grand firework finale.
